About Kyra Weir

Kyra Weir I decided I wanted to be an artist when I was 8.
I sold my first painting when I was 11 and had my first exhibition when I was 19 with the
Plunket Society in Brighton.
I have spent the last 45 years selling my artwork as an artist in New Zealand,
with the last 25 years teaching art and artists workshops.
Painting will always be my passion!

I draw my inspiration from exploring my environment, my home and my country.
Working in a larger format than before has enabled me great freedom
and movement in my work.
Being able to move from one painting onto a second or third has removed many
unseen boundaries of the Mind and opened up large spaces to develop creativity.
This body of work has been instrumental in also removing the boundaries of reality
leading into more extraction. A path I have wanted to explore for a while now.
